NEW YORK – A software bug that can lead to loss of propulsion power led to the recall of 256,603 Honda Accords this week. According to the Associated Press, the software problem could cause some of the affected cars’ internal software to reset while driving.
The recall applies to certain 2023-2025 Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles in the US. Honda says the affected vehicles may have incorrect software programming, which could be causing the power loss issue.
If that happens, it increases the chance of an accident or injury. To date, Honda has received 832 warranty claims related to this issue, but is not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the fault between mid-December 2022 and the end of October 2025.
From January 5, 2026, affected owners will be contacted by letter, but the AP reports that the improved software is already available. Owners of potentially affected Accord models can visit NHTSA’s site or Honda’s recall notice. Accord Hybrid owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
