Summary

  • Apple just launched iOS 26, which features its Liquid Glass redesign, and you can add a similar effect to your Samsung Galaxy.
  • To do this, you’ll need to download Samsung’s Good Lock app, which unlocks additional customization options for your phone.
  • In the Good Lock app, download the Theme Park module, go to Icons, and create an icon pack with the glass effect.

Apple has just rolled out iOS 26, featuring its largest user interface overhaul since iOS 7 was introduced back in 2013. The Cupertino-based company is calling this redesign Liquid Glass, and it affects not only the iPhone but also the iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more. As the name implies, Liquid Glass gives many of the iPhone’s user interface elements a glass-like, translucent look, including app icons and the Control Center.

I’ve recently been testing iOS 26 on my iPhone, and after a few days of using it, I have to admit Liquid Glass is starting to grow on me. I like the transparent effect it offers, and if you find the right wallpaper, it can look really sharp. Of course, the reaction online to Liquid Glass so far has been mixed — some people despise it, while others love the change and find it refreshing.

Now that I’ve used it on my iPhone, when I went back to my Galaxy S25+, I missed the Liquid Glass effect. Then I remembered something very important. I’m back on Android, and I have the freedom to virtually change the entire look of this phone if I wanted to, in a way that iPhone users could only dream of. Luckily, Samsung offers a way to do that very easily, thanks to its Good Lock app. If you’re in the same camp as me and like Apple’s Liquid Glass redesign, applying a similar effect to your Samsung Galaxy is extremely straightforward.

How to add Liquid Glass to your Samsung Galaxy

You’ll need to download Good Lock and its Theme Park module

First things first, to get a Liquid Glass theme on your Samsung Galaxy, you’ll need to download Samsung’s Good Lock app if you haven’t already. If you’re unfamiliar with Good Lock, it’s an app that allows you to install various customization modules on your device, providing you with unique ways to personalize your phone, including new options for the lock screen, home screen, settings menu, and more. It’s available in the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store for Samsung Galaxy phones.

Once you’ve downloaded Good Lock, you’ll want to install the Theme Park module inside the app. If you have already installed Theme Park before, make sure it’s up-to-date, as the feature that creates the Liquid Glass effect we’ll be using was added in an update Samsung released during the summer.

Now that you have both Good Lock and Theme Park installed, here’s what to do step-by-step to achieve a Liquid Glass effect on your Samsung Galaxy:

1. Open Theme Park and go to the Icon tab in the bottom navigation bar. Select Create New.

2. The icon pack editor will open. From there, tap on Effects to expand the available options.

3. Choose the Glass effect.

4. You can then adjust the Edge, Light, and Angle sliders to your preference, and a preview will appear above.

5. You can also tap Glass to modify transparency and saturation levels, and tap Glow to change the glow effect around the icon’s edge. I recommend setting the Glow to white, as it creates a glass shimmer effect.

6. When you’re finished, tap the download button in the top right corner to save your icon pack and give it a name.

7. After saving it, return to the Icon tab, select the icon pack you just created, and click Apply.

After applying the icon pack you just created, head back to your phone’s home screen and you’ll see that all your app icons now have a glass effect similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass design. Most apps I’ve tried work with this effect, except for the Google Play Store, which seems to be the only exception.

Liquid Glass effect on Samsung Galaxy.

I’m really impressed with how well Samsung’s Good Lock app and its Theme Park module create a glass effect that’s close to Apple’s Liquid Glass. Is it as good as the real thing? In my opinion, no, but it’s pretty close and not bad at all for a free app. And it’s no coincidence that Samsung added this glass effect to Theme Park just a month after Apple announced Liquid Glass at WWDC.

If you try the Liquid Glass effect on your Samsung Galaxy and decide it’s not for you, you can remove it by going back to the Theme Park module, tapping on the icon pack you created, and selecting Unapply.
