Between commercial failures that have become cult and legendary laptops that have left their mark on entire generations, the ranking reserves its share of surprises.
Top 10 most valuable Nintendo consoles in 2025
1. Virtual Boy – environ 520 €
A commercial failure in the mid-90s, the Virtual Boy has become a cult object. Its rarity, combined with its atypical design and its tragic fate, makes it today the most highly valued Nintendo home console on the collectible market. Fortunately for those who didn’t know it, Nintendo is relaunching it in 2026!
2. New Nintendo 3DS XL – environ 280 €
The last major evolution of the 3DS, the “XL” model still attracts collectors for its screen comfort and its limited editions. Some special versions well exceed €300, especially if they are in perfect condition with original box and charger.
3. Game Boy Micro – environ 270 €
Released at the end of the Game Boy Advance’s life, the Micro did not enjoy enormous commercial success. Its small size and its rarity in a complete box make it highly sought after by collectors today, with prices that continue to rise.
4. Super Nintendo (SNES) – environ 185 €
Mythical machine of the 90s, the Super Nintendo remains a safe bet. Collectors pay a high Price to find the console of their childhood, especially in a box with its original accessories and manuals.
5. Nintendo 64 – environ 165 €
With its iconic cartridges and colorful controllers, the Nintendo 64 retains a strong nostalgic aura. Complete versions in good condition today easily exceed €160, even more for certain special packs.
6. GameCube – environ 165 €
Long underestimated, the small cubic console is seducing again. In the box, its price is close to that of the N64, but can increase depending on the colors (purple, black, platinum) or rare bundles.
7. Game Boy (1989) – environ 200 €
Absolute icon of the portable console, the first Game Boy remains very popular. If the “loose” models (without box) circulate a lot, complete examples in good condition now cost around €200.
8. Game Boy Color – environ 180 €
Direct successor to the Game Boy, the Color version rocked the end of the 90s. Collectors are particularly looking for bright colors and special editions, which maintains a solid rating.
9. Wii U – environ 150 €
Shunned upon its release, the Wii U is in the process of getting back on its feet… on the collectible market. Its relative rarity and the fact that it marked a complicated transition for Nintendo make it more sought after than you might think.
10. Nintendo Switch OLED (2021, occasion) – environ 170 €
It’s the newest console in this ranking, and it’s already on collectors’ radar. Its price is still close to new, but certain special editions (Pokémon, Zelda) can be worth much more on the second-hand market.
The boom in limited editions
Beyond this Top 10, it is especially the special editions which push prices up. A Game Boy Advance SP Rayquaza edition can exceed €900, while Nintendo 64 collector’s packs sometimes reach a thousand euros. In all cases, the state of conservation and the presence of the original box play a decisive role in the value.
Should you sell now or wait?
The Nintendo console market follows a logic well known to collectors: the older and rarer the machine, the more its price tends to rise over time, especially if it is complete and in good condition. Mythical models like the Super Nintendo, the Game Boy or the GameCube should therefore continue to increase in value, provided you keep the box and accessories.
On the other hand, for recent consoles like the Nintendo Switch, prices are likely to fall in the coming years, especially with the arrival of the new generation a few months ago. Better to sell now if you have a standard model, and only keep the limited editions which are likely to become rarer.
Finally, be careful of the temptation to “clean” or “repair” your old consoles yourself: clumsy restoration can lose value. If you plan to sell, focus on transparency of the actual condition and leave the choice to passionate buyers.
