Huawei and Chinese car manufacturer JAC have jointly kick-started the development of two new models under their ultra-luxury brand Maextro, according to a New Year address released by state-owned JAC on Monday, which did not give further details. The announcement comes three months after the Maextro S800, the brand’s first model with a pre-sale price starting from RMB 1 million ($137,900), made its debut at a Huawei press conference last November, with the car featuring luxurious design and innovative technologies such as Huawei’s advanced driver assistance system. The S800 full-sized luxury saloon also made an appearance on Tuesday during this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala, China’s most-watched television show, grabbing attention ahead of its scheduled launch in the next few months.
