Tablets are great solutions for lightweight computing, and the iPad Air is one of the best options out there, with incredibly solid construction, a killer screen and tons of useful apps. In our review of the 2025 iPad Air, we gave it an Editors’ Choice award, with managing editor Eric Zeman saying the slate “strikes a compelling balance between performance and price,” giving you boosted performance from the baseline model without the big investment of the iPad Pro. Back To School Mac Mini Deals

Space is at a premium in student housing, so setting up a massive desktop computer isn’t recommended. That’s one of many reasons we gave an Editors’ Choice award to the 2024 Mac Mini in our review, saying that Apple’s compact powerhouse was a great pick for work and play, with the zippy M4 processor tackling tough tasks with ease and the increased system memory paying dividends. The internal fans can get a little noisy if you really push it, but for everyday scholastics all you need is a monitor to make this baby sing, especially at a 10% discount.
