Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.
If you’re someone who invests, things can easily become messy, and you can end up with a wide variety of brokerage accounts for varying purposes. Profit makes tracking everything a whole lot easier, bringing everything together in one cohesive and beautifully designed interface for iOS and macOS. It doesn’t require account syncing, and runs entirely privately.
Highlights
First things first, Profit follows two core principles: it has a very native feeling design, and it puts privacy first and foremost. The app will feel right at home on your device, and you also don’t need to worry about logins, syncing your data to some server, or think about who has access to your financial data.
The app relies on a manual tracking approach, which might be a bit more tedious, but it certainly allows for additional granularity. You can setup each account you’d like to track, then you can set up individual assets you’d like to track, dial in the prices and dates you bought them at, and any other details you’d like to add. It does require a bit of effort, but it’s well worth it once the whole process is complete.
The app will then track all of your gains and losses from there. On top of typical stock securities, it supports options and cryptocurrencies. Profit also tracks stock splits for you, and much, much more.
