Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.
If you want a lightweight, private, minimalistic, yet customizable web browsing experience on your iPhone – Quiche might be the perfect answer for you. It also offers a number of unique features to make it more tailored for power users than Safari.
Top features
As mentioned in the headline, Quiche meets your needs. It allows you to customize the interface to your heart’s content. First and foremost, you can change the toolbar. Quiche offers over a dozen different toolbar options so you can tailor it to your needs, and on top of that, you can rearrange the buttons.
If you’re left handed, for example, you can place more important buttons on the left side of the toolbar. There’s also an option to toggle between classic UI and Liquid Glass in case you aren’t a fan of glassy design elements.
There’s also a nifty little feature for tab management. Instead of just having massive page previews in a grid based on the order you opened your tabs, you can change it to a list view. You can also change it to sort by newest, or by which pages are the longest. Quiche also offers a compact page preview option, so you can see more sites in one grid.
And most importantly, Quiche is private. It doesn’t collect any analytics from you, nor does it require an account.
Download the app
Quiche is available for free on the App Store for iPhones running iOS 16.4 and later. iPad support is currently in beta.
To support the developer, as well as unlocking additional exclusive features like dark mode on all websites, exclusive app icons, and more – you can subscribe to Quiche Plus. That’ll run you $2.99/month or $26.90/year, and it all goes towards ensuring Quiche’s future as an independent and private browser. All essential features will remain free regardless.
