iPhone 17 launch is just a month away, and the leaks about the price expectations have already started pouring in. Last year’s iPhone 16 Pro started at $999 in the US with 128GB of storage, so it’s easy to picture where Apple might go next. However, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro could see not just a bump in price but also a change in what you get for that base model.
According to multiple leaks, including those from tipster Instant Digital, Apple may raise the iPhone 17 Pro’s starting price by $50. If this comes true, it will bring the price of the iPhone 17 Pro to $1,049 in the US. At first glance, that’s a straightforward price hike. But there’s a catch!
The base storage variant of the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to double from 128GB to 256GB. That may justify the leaked price hike to some extent. Not just that, several reports point towards rising component costs and possible trade tariffs as reasons behind the increase. Similar rumours circulated before the iPhone 15 Pro Max launch in 2023 when Apple dropped the 128GB option and started at 256GB, effectively pushing up the entry price without directly saying so. This move, if repeated, would keep the starting tier higher while giving users more space to store apps, photos, and videos right out of the box.
iPhone 17 Expected Price In India
If Apple follows its usual pricing pattern, the iPhone 17 Pro’s new $1,049 US tag could translate to around Rs 1,21,900 in India. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, reportedly priced at $1,249 in the US, might land near Rs 1,39,900. While these numbers are based on past trends and not official figures, they do suggest a likely Rs 5,000 jump over the current generation.
iPhone 17 Series Launch Timeline
Apple is expected to unveil the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including the standard iPhone 17, a new iPhone 17 Air, which may likely replace the Plus, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the top-end iPhone 17 Pro Max, on September 9, the speculations suggested a common date. Pre-orders are tipped to begin shortly after, with a possible retail launch around September 19.
For now, these details remain in the “leak” category, so you must take the information with a pinch of salt.
