Johnson & Johnson China began a new round of layoffs last week, affecting several of the company’s business units, as intense competition and centralized procurement of medical supplies continue to affect the company’s profits, according to local financial media outlet Yicai. A former employee of the company told Yicai that the layoffs in China are part of global layoffs at Johnson & Johnson. When a spokesperson at Johnson & Johnson China was reached for confirmation by Yicai, they did not deny the news but said, “There is no additional information to share.” Johnson & Johnson currently operates a factory in Suzhou, China, which produces a range of products, such as surgical and orthopedic items.
