Lenovo is gearing up to introduce the Legion Go 2 handheld gaming console at the upcoming IFA 2025 event in Berlin (September 5-9). The device, which was first teased in prototype form at CES earlier this year, is now making headlines after tipster Evan Blass leaked its promotional video. The clip reveals Lenovo’s big upgrades in display, design, performance, and cooling.
Lenovo Legion Go 2 Display
One of the most striking features of the Legion Go 2 is its 8.8-inch Lenovo PureSight OLED display. Unlike the LCD screen on the first-generation Legion Go, the new model gets a big upgrade with an 8.8-inch OLED display that supports a 144Hz refresh rate along with variable refresh rate (VRR). In simple terms, this means smoother, more fluid visuals – especially handy for gamers who love fast-paced action and competitive titles.

Redesigned Controllers and Security
The handheld’s detachable Legion Truestrike controllers have been redesigned to improve comfort and flexibility. Lenovo has also added six programmable buttons – two on the right controller’s edge and four at the back across both controllers. A fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button adds a layer of security, a first for the Legion Go lineup.
Multiple Play Modes
Similar to its predecessor, the Legion Go 2 supports tablet mode, console mode, and FPS mode. Console mode lets you hook it up with a separate charging dock (sold separately), while FPS mode transforms the controller setup for a more precise, shooter-friendly experience.
Lenovo Legion Go 2 Specifications, Features
Inside, Lenovo has packed serious power. At the heart of the Legion Go 2 is the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, the same chip powering the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X. It’s an 8-core, 16-thread APU that blends Zen 5 and Zen 5c processors, reaching speeds of up to 5 GHz. Paired with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores that can ramp up to 2900 MHz, the handheld promises the kind of performance you’d expect from a serious gaming PC – just in a portable form.
Lenovo has also given attention to durability and cooling. The upgraded Legion Coldfront system now draws air in from the back and vents it out through the top, helping the device stay cooler even during long gaming sessions. On the outside, the Legion Go 2 gets a new excimer coating that makes it sturdier, resists fingerprints, and is easier to wipe clean.
Lenovo Legion Go 2 Accessories and Launch
Lenovo will offer optional accessories such as a Legion Go dock and a Legion Go sling bag. Pricing and release dates will be revealed during IFA 2025, scheduled to kick off from September 5.
