Apple’s high-end Mac Pro desktop is unlikely to get a new model in 2026, according to a new report.
Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter at Bloomberg reports Apple’s Mac Pro series is now “on the back burner” and it’s “largely written off” internally.
The Mac Pro hasn’t seen an update since 2023, leading some to speculate we may see a new model next year.
Gurman says the brand had previously been working on a Mac Pro model alongside its development of an M4 Ultra chip. Those sources say Apple has cancelled its plans for both the chip and the desktop, but it’s unclear why.
The sources have said there’s no clear sign of an M5 Ultra Mac Pro model in the works, with the brand instead focusing development on a future Mac Studio. Gurman says the Mac Studio “represents both the present and future of Apple’s professional desktop strategy.”
Three models of Mac Studio products have been available since it first launched in 2022. There was an update around a year after the first model landed, and March 2025 saw the latest refresh.
