Meituan announced on Monday that its pension insurance subsidy program for delivery riders has expanded nationwide. Starting in November, riders can choose to make contributions either in their place of household registration or their place of work, depending on their personal needs. Detailed rules can be found in the Rider App or at local social security service centers. This marks the first social security subsidy plan in the industry that is open to all riders. According to the company, Meituan has initially built a multi-tier welfare and protection network covering all riders. The basic benefits include pension insurance subsidies, occupational injury insurance, accident insurance, and special weather allowances. The advanced benefits extend to major illness support for riders and their families, as well as education funds for their children. [Meituan, in Chinese]
