Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Chinese tech companies Ecarx and Xingji Meizu and will install Flyme Auto—an operating system developed by the two Geely-backed firms—in the upcoming redesigned version of its E-Class long-wheelbase model, sources told Chinese media outlet 36Kr on Tuesday. The new long-wheelbase version of the luxury sedan is expected to go on sale in China in 2027, the report said, without revealing further details. The news follows a Reuters report from last December that said the German automaker will invest in China’s auto tech startup Momenta and use its advanced driver assistance system in four locally built models from 2025 to 2027, aiming to accelerate its digital transformation. Geely’s Lynk & Co 08 crossover was the first model equipped with Flyme Auto, an in-car operating system based on the electronic architecture of Chinese smartphone maker Meizu, which Geely acquired in mid-2022.
