NFL legend Michael Vick may be following in Deion Sanders’ coaching footsteps.
The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback met with an up-and-coming college football team about a potential head coaching gig.
Sacramento State has met with Vick about their head coaching opening.
“He has expressed interest in the position and yes I did meet with him about his interest in Sac State football and our athletic rise,” president Luke Wood told ESPN.
“As you can imagine, given the success of our athletic programs that our football head coach job is an attractive role.”
Sacramento State has ambitious plans for its athletic programs, with $50 million reportedly set aside for NIL, according to Adam Schefter.

The university also plans for its football program to move up to the FBS level to either the Pac-12 or Mountain West.
The Sacramento State job opened up after previous head coach Andy Thompson departed for an assistant coaching job at Stanford.
The school finished 3-9 and in 11th place in the Big Sky this season.
Vick could be an attractive presence in the program for prospective talents and donors for Sacramento State.
They aren’t the only school after him though. Vick also interviewed with Norfolk State for their head coaching vacancy.
Norfolk State is close to Vick’s hometown of Newport News, Virginia.
Vick has experience getting to the biggest stage in college football.
Back in his playing days he brought Virginia Tech all the way to the national title game in 1999.
He eventually lost to Florida State, but was later drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in 2000.
Football fans are intrigued by the prospect of Vick trying his hand at coaching, and shared their thoughts on social media.
“Deion 2.0,” one fan said.
