Microsoft has announced the implementation of a European Security Programwhich adds to the government security program that the company is underway.
The person in charge of making the announcement has been the Microsoft President Brad Smithwhich has pointed out that with this initiative they expand their work in defense of cybersecurity in the region.
Smith stressed that the measure is taken to fulfill one of the European digital commitments he shared in Brussels five weeks ago. The program expands the geographical scope of your security work, and adds new basic elements for protection in Europe.
In addition, he highlights AI as the center of his work “as a tool to protect traditional cybersecurity needs, and reinforces our protection of digital infrastructure and AI”.
The European Microsoft Security Program also has three new distinctive elements: increase and expansion of intelligence exchange on threats based on AI with governments, investments to reinforce the capacity and resilience in cybersecurity, and agreements and collaborations to interrupt cyber attacks and dismantle the networks they use.
According to the company, the program is available to European governments, both of the 27 EU member states and the candidates for adherence to it, as well as the members of the European Free Trade Association (AELC), the United Kingdom, Monaco and the Vatican.
Developed on the basis of the company’s government security program, the new European security program will increase the flow and expand access to intelligence on processable threats for European governments.
It is adapted to the different national threat environments, enabled with knowledge of the avant -garde, and executed whenever possible in real time, the program serves to help governments anticipate the progress of threats.
This is achieved thanks to several factors: the use of information on intelligence of threats and information on cybercrime in the hand of the Microsoft digital crimes unit, updates on foreign influence operations, and the identification of vulnerabilities and prioritization of security communications.
Governments participating in the program will have a specific Microsoft point of contact to coordinate the answers and climb their concerns, which will serve to improve knowledge of the situation and support faster and faster action through borders.
In the company they point out that they will make various investments to reinforce cybersecurity and long -term resilience, especially local capacities. To do this, they will seek to strengthen public-private collaboration a. through a pilot program with the European Center for Cybercrime of Europol.
In addition, they will support civil society in defense against ransomware and provide greater support for cybersecurity in Western Balkans, an area where cybercriminals have long been trying to destabilize border countries with the EU.
Finally, with this program those of Redmond also want Advance in the safety and innovation of AIand ensure open source innovation through the Github Secure Open Source Fund.
