Cops discovered that LaVonne, 76, had been left alone with the animals while Jessica completed some errands.
But LaVonne’s dementia meant that she needed 24 hour care.
Police found several dogs running around inside the property when they rushed to the home.
Cops revealed 24 dogs were found in the home where the attack happened.
And, another 30 dogs were discovered inside a second property that Jessica, 47, owned.
Police said some of the dogs were in poor health.
As part of their search, officers also seized seven birds.
Cops linked LaVonne’s death to a dog attack and have since arrested Jessica.
She’s been accused of criminal negligence that saw the death of an at-risk adult.
Jessica is also accused of 54 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
She is due to appear in court on March 27.
SPATE OF ATTACKS
The dog attack comes months after Davina Corbin, of California, was mauled by a pack of 25 Great Danes.
Her body was found on a hiking trail in Feather Falls, about 90 miles from Sacramento, in August.
Cops revealed she had several bite marks on her body and her clothes had some of the dogs DNA on them.
Corbin’s son, Justin, said his family was “struggling to come to terms with the loss,” according to a GoFundMe page that was created.
A fundraiser was set up to cover her funeral costs.
In December, a man was killed after being mauled to death by his three XL bully dogs in a San Diego park.
Witnesses told the local affiliate Fox affiliate KSWB/KUSI the dogs were made of “massive muscle.”
In the UK, it’s a criminal offense to own an XL bully dog unless a person has an exemption certificate.
The law has been in place since February 2024.
