In the sixteen years that he has been working at CBBS, he has seen the HR and payroll profession – and with it the needs and wishes of companies – change. He discusses three relevant industry developments.
– Shift towards HR
First, he sees the salary sector shifting towards HR. Nowadays, remuneration is about more than just paying out wages. “We see that individual choice budgets and flexible employment conditions are arranged in the collective labor agreement, not only in large organizations, but also in our healthcare customers. Want to pay out extra days off? Want to spend holiday money on a bicycle or training? Remuneration is becoming a broader concept.”

Where a few years ago the pay slip still came by email or even on paper, this is now done via portals and apps. “We stopped emailing pay slips in 2018. An online environment is simply safer, faster and cheaper.”
– Employee development
Employees increasingly need growth and personal development. “To retain people’s loyalty, as an employer you must offer things such as coaching, training and career advancement. A good software solution helps keep track of the conversation and development cycle.”

That saves double entry. And in Nmbrs Perform you record the wishes and ambitions of employees and draw up personal development plans. In fact, we sell our customers convenience and time. That helped him a lot. This way, the owner of a painting company can continue to paint on the scaffolding and the director of a catering business has more room for matters such as purchasing and marketing.”

Everything under one roof
What Vooijs also believes is a major advantage of Nmbrs for its existing customers is that they do not have to make an acquisition for an additional package aimed at recruitment or development. “Because they can easily add a feature like Hire or Perform, they don’t have to go shopping externally. They don’t have to tie together software or re-enter employees, which reduces the chance of errors. With Nmbrs you speak of Plug & Play. That saves hassle, time and money.”
He also often advises new customers Nmbrs. “Sometimes a company needs to record development, but the current package cannot keep pace with this. Then we recommend a switch to Nmbrs and offer matching additional services from Nmbrs. I always look at the type of customer and see which software package or app best suits their wishes and requirements. For example, some payroll software does not support the Construction Collective Labor Agreement. In that case I recommend our own software or Nmbrs. Is it about a transport company? Then Nmbrs is the best fit.”
Time for entrepreneurship
It is clear: his experience is that Nmbrs software optimally supports companies and makes the lives of managers and directors easier. “It is not without reason that our motto is ‘CBBS makes time for entrepreneurship’. All in all, he has recently seen an increase in the number of customers working with Nmbrs. “We also actively promote the collaboration on our website. New customers sometimes come to us specifically because we offer Nmbrs. And then you have the group of HR professionals who worked with Nmbrs at their old employer. Someone regularly comes to us from his or her new role because he or she also wants to implement Nmbrs at the new employer. That says enough, right?”
