Elon Musk is scheduled to meet with House Republicans in the Capitol on Wednesday evening, multiple sources confirmed to The Hill, to provide an update on the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The huddle is scheduled to take place at the Capitol at 7 p.m. EST.
“He’s just going to give an update, answer questions,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told The Hill of the gathering. “The closer we coordinate together, the more that we’ll be in position to codify the savings that he’s finding. So that’s what that’s about.”
“There’s a lot of excitement about what DOGE is doing, and some questions, and he’ll be able to answer the questions of members there,” he later added. “The closer we coordinate with what DOGE is doing and with the House the better off the country is, because we’ll be able, again, to make these big savings from fraud, waste and abuse permanent in the budgeting process. So that’s going to be a good thing for every American taxpayer. So we look forward to that dialogue and to him continuing his work.”
Musk has emerged as a major villain to Democratic lawmakers and supporters, who have criticized how the Trump administration and DOGE — Musk’s brainchild — have taken a sledgehammer to the federal government in the name of rooting out waste and fraud.
Multiple court cases have challenged those actions, which include gutting USAID and firing thousands of federal workers.
