First round absentees
There are quite a few names that were expected to be called tonight but failed to make the day one boat.
Shedeur Sanders, quarterback: The theatre around Shedeur has been a long, drawn-out cat-and-mouse game between the QB and some of the league’s prominent chiefs. Regardless, the guy can play. When he gets picked, he’ll have one hell of a chip on his shoulder.
Mike Green, edge rusher: Green is a nimble, energetic pass rusher with elite output off the edge; his characteristics offer him a lot of potential. He will be a top-third second-round pick, no doubt.
Will Johnson, cornerback: Johnson’s stock has fallen somewhat. He had a foot issue last season and was ineffective for Michigan. He also missed the Wolverines’ pro day due to a hamstring ailment. He’ll also be a day two steal.
TreVeyon Henderson, running back: Insiders have compared Henderson to Jahmyr Gibbs. Henderson is an explosive runner and receiver who should thrive in an NFL position similar to Gibbs’—and we’ve seen how important such a playmaker can be.
