Everyone who drives an electric car has encountered this problem at least once. You arrive at the charging station, and all the terminals are already taken. Unable to find a place for your vehicle. Eddie World work center customers will soon no longer experience this problem.
Based in California, this station now offers 22 charging stations (V2 and V3). But Tesla has a lot of ambition for this area. The brand will start by adding the latest generation Superchargers (V4). 72 terminals are expected on the site in the coming months.
But the plans and projects shared by our colleagues at Teslarati (the article is available in source) go much further. The American car manufacturer would like to gradually reach 400 charging stations on the Eddie World 2 site. Located on the edge of the I-15 highway (which connects Los Angeles and Las Vegas), this commercial area is now taken over by electric cars and it is difficult to find an available charging station during rush hours.
In addition to offering charging stations for electric cars, the whole Eddie World 2 project is much larger. The area is commercial as a whole and will soon be home to shops and restaurants. A McDonald’s has already planned to set up in the area to meet demand.
The Oasis Project, another waking dream of Tesla
If the Eddie World 2 project is disproportionate, it is not the only one in its category. Tesla is working in parallel on the “Oasis” project. It currently offers 164 charging stations for electric cars. Currently being expanded, it should accommodate 300 charging stations in a few years. They are mainly powered by a solar farm.
Recharging a car, more profitable than selling it?
As we said above, today everyone knows Tesla for its electric cars. They are the cornerstone of the brand. But the American firm is developing many ancillary activities, notably charging, which is becoming a financial windfall that is important as electric cars develop around the world.
By building charging infrastructures around the world, Tesla hopes to recover precious dollars from its users, but also to make itself known and show skeptics that you can very well recharge an electric car without making detours of several kilometers.
The arrival of Tesla charging stations therefore serves a double advantage. Economical on the one hand, and it should not be neglected. But also marketing, with positioning of the brand in the collective imagination.
