Cambridge-based deep tech group Nu Quantum has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Richard Moulds, a former senior employee of Amazon that developed the tech giant’s quantum service.
Moulds will join the strategic advisory board of Nu Quantum, having previously spearheaded the launch of Amazon Braket, a fully managed quantum computing service that is part of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
“Nu Quantum is addressing one of the key challenges in making quantum computing useful: how to scale,” said Moulds.
“I’m excited to bring my experience in building open, accessible quantum platforms to support the company’s mission of enabling large-scale, distributed quantum systems for commercial deployment.”
Also joining the company is Jonathan Cumming, who has been named chief financial officer.
Cummings began his career in finance as an investment banker at Barclays and later held the role of CFO at the Spanish telco ONO, which was acquired by Vodafone for €10bn.
“The team’s vision and groundbreaking quantum networking technology have the potential to transform industries worldwide,” said Cumming.
“I am delighted to become part of a truly impressive group of individuals, led by an inspirational founder, and I look forward to contributing my experience to help scale the business, unlock new growth opportunities and bring these solutions to market.”
Last year Nu Quantum added the former quantum lead at IBM, Bob Sutor, to its board ahead of its US expansion.
