OnePlus has given us a closer look at its forthcoming ‘Turbo’ gaming phones and confirmed rumours of a key spec – a mammoth 9,000mAh battery back to keep gamers at it for longer.
The new gaming-focused handsets are set to go by the names Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V and were shown off by OnePlus on the Weibo social media site this week.
In translated comments, the company writes: “The all-new OnePlus Turbo 6 series is coming soon, exploring aesthetics with a light-chasing design and an ultra-transparent texture; extra-large rounded corners, an ultra-thin metal cube design, great feel in any orientation.”
The teaser shows the names and the designs of the phones and the colours OnePlus plans to offer them in – pale blue and green, as well as silver and black options.
The company also speaks of 165Hz displays – which would provide ultra gaming friendly refresh rates, along with Snapdragon 8-series chips. One of the clips shows the phone getting a good dousing so it appears the phones will have solid water resistance. The Turbo has a pair of camera lenses while the 6V has a trio. It’s not clear what the other differences are, but we’re sure OnePlus will make it all clear in the New Year.
9to5Google reports that these phones are likely on deck for a global launch, but it’s not yet clear when that might be. My money’s on a reveal at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, which takes place at the end of February.
OnePlus enters the specialty gaming phone market amid a glut of new dedicated portable handhelds that can play high-end PC games. However, it’ll also battle the ASUS ROG series of phones and the forthcoming Ayaneo Pocket Play, which is more of a throwback with a slide-up design to reveal a physical controller.
