It’s only a matter of time until Disney+ and Hulu are combined into a single app. Until then, Disney brings you the ultra-popular Marvel and Star Wars franchises, while Hulu covers a more adult-oriented niche with tons of movies and shows from network partners.
Between the two services, they release a ton of content every week, so I’ll make it easy for you by picking three worthwhile new entries. It’s a really good week this month, with hotly anticipated Korean spy drama Tempest, a new season of Only Murders In The Building, and more. Only Murders In The Building: Season 5 (Hulu, Sept. 9)
Some TV shows are pure comfort food, and Only Murders In The Building is a perfect example. The odd trio of Steve Martin, Demi Lovato, and Martin Short are true crime-obsessed neighbors who find themselves involved with all sorts of real-life crimes. The last season ended with the discovery of the building’s doorman dead in the front fountain, meaning there’s already trouble in the air.
Color Out Of Space (Hulu, Sept. 10)
This Lovecraftian horror movie didn’t perform well at the box office (blame a little thing called COVID-19 for that), but it’s a fascinating and visually delicious flick. Nicolas Cage moves his wife and kids back to his family farm in the country, only for a meteor to crash down in their pasture and bring some extremely negative stuff down with it.

Korean dramas aren’t a novelty on American streaming services these days, but Tempest is a major prestige project. It’s a big-budget spy thriller with a massive cast, including top female star Jun Ji-hyun. When a terrorist attack threatens Korea’s fragile peace, the former ambassador to the United Nations must team up with a mysterious special agent to uncover the source.
