The OPPO Find X series are phones where the brand puts everything it has in its arsenal to use. The OPPO Find X8 is no different but is everything in that arsenal enough to make it a flagship benchmark for 2025? I have the answer, and you’ll also have it by the end of this review.

OPPO Find X8 build and design
Now that we have the spec sheet sorted, let’s talk about the phone itself. It is light, premium, and solid. The phone has Swiss SGS drop test certification and military-grade impact certification. The back is made of reinforced glass, the sides are made of aluminium alloy. You can go case-free on this phone with the drop and impact test certifications.
If you appreciate symmetry, you’ll enjoy this design. The camera bump is just in the right place to give you a good grip on the phone. There’s an alert slider with satisfying haptics to switch between ring, vibrate, and silent profiles.
I feel the volume rockers and power button should’ve been lowered to make the volume up button more reachable. You get an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is snappy, but not as fast as the ultrasonic ones we’ve recently seen on other phones. Other than these little niggles, I find this design appealing, premium, and great to hold.
OPPO Find X8 display
You get a 6.59-inch 120hz AMOLED screen on the Find X8. This is a fairly good display for the price, but there are higher-resolution screens on more affordable phones today. There are several AI engines at work to enhance its performance, but there will be a hit on the battery life if you max out the settings.
As a daily driver, you have ample brightness to take on direct sunlight, but the display just won’t go dim enough in low-light use cases. The binge-watching experience is good, and the phone’s light weight means you can hold it for hours without paining your wrists.
OPPO Find X8 review: Cameras
I took my sweet time testing this phone’s 50+50+50 setup, and I love what OPPO has done here. While the main and telephoto are Sony, the ultrawide is a Samsung sensor. You get up to 120x max zoom, and the AI corrections clean up the images to give you usable results.
The cameras are consistent in pretty much every scenario. Especially the main and telephoto lenses capture enough detail even in low light to give good results. Smart features like auto-switch to macro mode and food photography make the cameras more appealing.
Once upon a time, we knew a slim phone would mean poor battery, a glass back would mean a shattered phone the minute you drop it, and a hole-punch camera would mean poor quality. But all those things have improved over the years to give us finished products right? That’s how the AI corrections on the Find X8 feel. They’re subtler, the detail looks closer to natural than ever, and the resolution duties are taken care of by the hardware.
So wrapping up the cameras, this phone pretty much nails all three sensors, delivers consistent results, and manages a good balance between hardware and software capabilities.
OPPO Find X8 performance
Gaming and multitasking are no problem on the Find X8. I left GTA San Andreas definitive edition open on the phone, playing it on and off for an entire week. All this time, the game neither got suspended, nor restarted. Every single time, it’d just resume where I paused, completely lag-free. That said, the Dimensity 9400 chip, paired with 16GB RAM is no short of firepower when it comes to performance.
However, the Geekbench scores tell a different tale. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip in this phone can take the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 head-on, but it doesn’t come close to beating the Snapdragon 8 Elite that has already come out in a couple of flagships now.
While the MediaTek is a capable chip, the Geekbench GPU scores peg it in the leagues of the Samsung S23 and Xiaomi 13, both of which are running 2 generations-old Snapdragon chips. Again, MediaTek handles anything you throw at it, but these results shouldn’t be taken lightly over long-term usage.
OPPO Find X8 battery and charging
Speaking of long-term usage, we’re now in a section that OPPO has mastered over the years. I’m impressed with the battery tech evolution in OPPO phones over generations. The Find X8 has a 5600mAh cell with 80-watt Supervooc wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging. You also get 10-watt reverse wireless charging so you can charge your other phones, or supported accessories like TWS buds by placing them on the phone.
The battery typically lasts a full day on moderate usage, but if you turn on optimized charging and juice it up only to 80-85%, you’ll have to turn on the power saver by 4 PM. But this is still a solid backup for a slim and powerful phone.
OPPO Find X8 review: Verdict
TL;DR, A military-grade chassis, a good display, a capable chip, and delightful cameras. But you miss out on wired high-quality audio playback, the volume buttons are too high, and the fingerprint sensor is not as snappy as some of its recent competitors.
So like I said in the headline, this is an amazing flagship with some sensible tradeoffs. The OPPO Find X8 is a slim and chic phone, which is a no-brainer option if you’re looking to buy a good-looking phone with great cameras and powerful specs.
