If you’re planning to purchase one of Apple’s new products, be sure to carefully review the product description before placing your order. At its event this week, Apple skipped some key details that could affect your decision.
For example, as The Verge reports, Apple no longer packs a charging cable with AirPods Pro 3. The “In the Box” section of the product’s specs and preorder pages alerts potential buyers about the change. On the specs page, Apple states, “USB-C Charge Cable sold separately,” and on the preorder page, it further clarifies that “AirPods Pro 3 do not include a USB-C Charge Cable or power adapter.”
This won’t be a problem for most people, since they may already have a USB-C cable. However, for those who prefer using the official Apple cable that comes with a product, the change could be annoying.

Apple is slowly forming a pattern of removing accessories from its packaging. With the iPhone 12, in 2020, it discarded wired EarPods and wall adapters. With the AirPods Pro 3, it has removed the charging cable. Who’s to say if it will stop including adapters with its MacBooks in the future?

The AirPods Pro 3 box will include a lanyard loop, documentation, and the new five-size silicone ear tips, alongside the earbuds and their accompanying charging case. Apple continues to sell the AirPods 4 and the AirPods Max via its online store, and both models still include a USB-C cable.
You can preorder the AirPods Pro 3 via Apple, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart now. They’ll become widely available on Sept. 19. To find out what’s new on the headphones, check out our detailed coverage.
