What time is the Oscars on in the UK?
Coverage of the event kicks off at 10:30pm.
The main event will get underway at midnight (7pm ET).
The ceremony will continue during the early hours of tomorrow morning and end at around 3am (10pm ET).
Ross weighs in on ‘odd’ nominations
TV host Jonathan Ross, who is hosting ITV1’s live coverage of the ceremony in the UK, believes the Academy’s voters have decided to show “how smart we are” instead of backing box office hits.
He said: “It seems a bit odd to me, some of the choices. Emilia Perez, I thought was kind of OK, but I didn’t think the tunes were very good.
“And then you’ve got Wicked, which, once again, I wasn’t a huge fan of but it couldn’t be more popular. And the songs are amazing.
“The Brutalist, I enjoyed. But sometimes I do feel people who vote in the Academy — and they have broadened the range of who get to do that — see this as an opportunity to show to the world that what they make is important rather than popular.
“This year, it seems they’ve gone back to saying, ‘Look how serious we are. Look how smart we are’.”
Pre-Oscar bash axed
United Talent Agency canceled its huge pre-show party and will instead make donations to numerous relief causes after destructive wildfires engulfed LA.
William Morris Endeavor followed suit, but will still host an intimate toast at Chateau Marmont Hotel for its nominated clients.
Creative Artists Agency is choosing to celebrate its clients including Demi Moore and Ariana Grande at a smaller party hosted at The Living Room, a new private members’ club.
Will Conclave or The Brutalist triumph?
A neck and neck display at the Baftas saw Conclave and The Brutalist both accept four gongs.
Adrien Brody prevailed in lifting the coveted Best Actor award, while Conclave took home Best Film and Outstanding British Film.
Will we see one of the two epics lift an infamous Oscar tonight?
Stay tuned as we approach the ceremony!
