After several weeks of processing, Palo Alto Networks has confirmed the Completion of the transaction to purchase QRadar software-as-a-service assets from IBMThe acquisition, as the company has recalled, has been carried out within the framework of strengthening the strategic agreement between both companies.
With this step, Palo Alto Networks aims to simplify security operations for its Precision AI-powered Cortex XSIAM platform. It brings together information security and event management capabilities with security orchestration, automation and response, attack surface management, and XDR (detection and response) tools.
Current IBM QRadar users will therefore see the service they are using disappear and will need to migrate to the Cortex XSIAM platform, although Palo Alto Networks has already assured that those who meet the requirements to be able to migrate will be helped with the migration free of charge.
With this milestone behind us, new users to the Cortex XSIAM user base will benefit from a number of enhancements, including improved security options, advanced analytics and automation, IBM support and on-premises continuity.
But this purchase agreement between IBM and Palo Alto Networks does not only involve, as we have mentioned, the change of hands of QRadar assets. It also has other implications. Among them is the reinforcement of IBM’s commitment to use Palo Alto Networks technology to deploy Cortex XSIAM for its next-generation security operations.
IBM also has Prisma SASE 3.0 for its Zero Trust network security. In addition, according to IBM, Palo Alto Networks will also deploy IBM solutions, such as watsonx AI internally. In addition, more than a thousand IBM Consulting employees have received specific training on Palo Alto Networks security solutions, with the aim of being able to offer advice on them in relation to changes and their adoption.
Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networkshas highlighted that the agreement with IBM reinforces its commitment “to innovate and the belief in the tremendous benefit to QRadar customers of adopting Cortex XSIAM to have a robust, data-driven security platform that offers transformative efficiency and effectiveness in defending against evolving cyber threats.«.
For its part Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBMhe added that “Working with Palo Alto Networks will be a strategic advantage for IBM as our two companies partner on advanced threat protection, response and security operations with Cortex XSAIM and watsonx, supported by IBM Consulting«.
