The Pioneer Collective is opening a new co-working space in Seattle at West Canal Yards, a waterfront development located in a former fish cannery along the Lake Washington Ship Canal.
Sitting near the intersection of several neighborhoods, including Ballard, Interbay, Fremont, Magnolia, and Queen Anne, TPC plans to occupy the 5,500-square-foot space this fall. It will be the company’s fourth location, alongside co-working spots in Ballard (which opened in 2022), Belltown and Tacoma, Wash.
Puget Sound Business Journal reported the news Thursday.
TPC was started in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Christopher Hoyt and Audrey Hoyt.
“We’ve taken a much more slow and steady growth perspective, and we never got in this to just expand rapidly or anything, but to perfect our product and create a sustainable, viable business,” Audrey Hoyt told GeekWire in 2023, as TPC and other Seattle co-working spaces reacted to WeWork’s bankruptcy at the time.
TPC’s West Canal Yards location, at 1100 W. Ewing St., will feature a range of spaces for meetings and remote work, with amenities such as phone rooms, bike storage, showers, a mother’s room, and more.
Full-time monthly memberships start at $225 and day passes go for $25, PSBJ reported.
Seattle ranks No. 12 among U.S. cities as measured by total coworking square footage across 153 locations, according to CoworkingCafe, which noted that the broader sector is shifting to a “more measured and optimized footprint” after growing over the past two years.
