Didn’t manage to get one of the limited edition PS5 consoles, or the controller that goes with it? Don’t panic, other more accessible surprises will allow you to celebrate PlayStation’s anniversary as it should be. Black Friday has just ended but Sony is following up with a new wave of promotions on its online store. Until December 20, impressive sales can be found via the 30th anniversary tab of the PlayStation Store. Hundreds of titles are offered at discounted prices: enough to fill your digital library as the Christmas holidays approach.
A PlayStation 5 Digital or a PlayStation 5 Pro waiting for you under the tree? You can now create an account and Buy your first games during the sales to save some money. Some blockbusters such as The Last of Us Part I, Ghost of Tsushima or even Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection offer advantageous reductions of -50%. Other older but equally essential titles, like The Witcher 3, even go so far as to benefit from an 80% reduced Price. The 30th anniversary celebration also comes with a PS5 software update not to be missed.
An intro that gives you chills
If automatic updates are not enabled on your console, consider installing the latest version deployed by Sony. This has a nice surprise in store for the most nostalgic players. Upon booting up the console, players are now greeted by the legendary intro sequence from the first PlayStation. This little nod also comes with visual and sound themes for the PS5 interface.

Users can dress their console in the colors of PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. These options are accessible directly from the console settings, in a dedicated 30th Anniversary PlayStation tab. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has already confirmed that these additions are only temporary. Soon, players will have to return to the PlayStation 5 without customizable themes. This feature available on previous generations had never made a comeback until now, and this anniversary presents itself as the ideal opportunity to implement it for good.
Hopefully, community feedback will ultimately motivate Sony to keep these options. While there’s still time, what nostalgic theme will you activate on your console? Even today, the mystical atmosphere of the PlayStation 2 has its effect, but the PlayStation 3 is not left out either.
