Nostalgia invades the PlayStation ecosystem in this last month of 2024 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Japanese brand. PS5 players can enjoy the PS1 intro sequence when booting up their machine and bring the interface to the colors of one of Sony’s older home consoles.
The firm is taking advantage of the very last moments of 2024 to celebrate (probably) one last time this exceptional anniversary. PlayStation has just posted a video of 30 seconds showcasing 30 of the greatest games in its 30-year history. Be careful, sensitive souls risk being overcome by strong emotion.
PlayStation highlights 30 of the greatest games from its 20-year history
Is PlayStation trying to make people cry with the video posted on X? A 30-second video shows 30 games that have marked its history launched by the famous PS1 released on December 3, 1994 in Japan. The video starts with an extract from Crash Bandicoot followed by the famous scene of the zombie dog crossing the window in the first Resident Evil.
We then see a Solid Snake who has just arrived on Shadow Moses being spotted by one of the first surveillance cameras in Metal Gear Solid. Obviously, the video also highlights legendary PS1 titles like Grand Tourism, Tomb Raider et Tekken.

We then change console generation to move to the PS2, best-selling console of all time. Kingdom Hearts, GTA : Vice City or even Shadow of the Colossus are in the spotlight. The PlayStation video also includes footage of The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn or even FF7 Rebirth.
Le GOTY 2024 des Game Awards, Astro Botalso appears. Note that all the games appearing in the video were indeed Sony console exclusives at the time of their launch on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5. We now find almost all of them on other media, except for the most recent ones like Astro Bot or Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (scheduled for January 23, 2025 on PC). In any case, in just 30 seconds, Sony manages to remind us of the place it occupies in the video game landscape.
