Wayfair is opening up a new large-format store in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
The primarily online retailer announced that it would open another physical store in the country at the Atlanta location.
The location is the site of a former Walmart at the District on Howell Mill, which closed in 2023.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the company said it will happen sometime in 2026.
“This sprawling 150,000 square-foot space will offer an immersive, one-stop shopping destination for furniture, home decor, housewares, appliances, and home improvement essentials–all designed to inspire and elevate every home, across all styles and budgets,” Wayfair said in a press release.
Wayfair bills itself as “the destination for all things home.”
The company says it’s aiming to provide customers with a similar experience to what they can find on the app or website.
“At the heart of our retail strategy is our commitment to providing customers with a seamless shopping experience, whether online or in-store,” said Wayfair Vice President of Merchandising and Stores Liza Lefkowski.
The Atlanta location will serve as the brand’s second large-format store, after Wayfair opened its first physical location last year in Illinois.
“We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind shopping experience to the Atlanta metro area,” Lefkowski said.
“We will offer customers an extensive selections for all styles and budgets, with our vast catalog brought to life in an aspiring and easy-to-navigate shopping experience that makes discovering the perfect pieces effortless.”
The company’s first store in Wilmette, Illinois has been a runaway success, according to the company.
Sales in the state of Illinois grew more than 15% faster than the rest of the country overall, between the store’s launch and the end of 2024.
“The excitement around our first store in Wilmette exceeded expectations – from packed shopping carts in-store, to bus tours from neighboring states,” Lefkowski said.
“It’s been incredible to see the enthusiasm for Wayfair in person and we can’t wait to bring that same energy to Atlanta.”
The store’s model will combine the convenience of online and in-store retail, offering items that can be purchased and brought home that day, and some that can be shipped from distribution centers.
The new store will be located near Wayfair’s fulfillment center in McDonough, Georgia, providing fast shipping.
Fraser Gough and Benton Green of Retail Planning Corporation facilitated the lease transaction for the new building.
The property is jointly owned by JLL Income Property Trust, a division of the global real estate investment firm LaSalle Investment Management, and Selig Enterprises, a family-run real estate development company with a 108-year history based in Atlanta.
Wayfair reported $11.9 billion in net revenue for the year ending December 31, 2024, and is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with operations worldwide.
