Good news for those who juggle between their Quest headset and their PC: Meta has redesigned the connection between the two devices. Thanks to the v72 update, all you have to do is look at your computer for a connection prompt to appear directly in the headset. Just press the virtual “Connect” button and off you go! No more need to juggle between the headset and the PC mouse.
A hassle-free PC connection
But before taking advantage of it, you will need to download the Mixed Reality Link application from the Microsoft Store and ensure that the PC is running Windows 11 version 22H2 or newer. Once the devices are paired, reconnection will be almost instantaneous. A nice little detail for those who like to work or play in total immersion.
Until now, keyboard recognition in virtual reality has been limited to a few specific models. With v72, Meta introduces a universal tracking system. Basically, the headset will automatically detect any nearby keyboard and bring up a virtual window to view it while you type. This system is still being deployed, but it should quickly become an essential tool for multitasking users.
Hand tracking reaches a new milestone with the arrival of Hands 2.3, an update that improves the stability and precision of interactions. Meta announces better cursor response when navigating menus, selecting objects or moving windows by pinching your fingers. Another new feature: a radius visual now guides your gestures, making it easier to target elements on the screen.

These improvements will be particularly useful in small spaces, such as in Travel mode, or in the dark, where the Quest 3S does quite well thanks to its ability to detect hands even in the dark.
In addition to these major new features, the update brings well-thought-out features to enrich the user experience. Calls through the People app now benefit from live captions, a major step forward for people with hearing loss. On the Instagram app side, users can finally exchange direct messages, share Reels and even send voice messages without leaving VR.
Finally, Meta is launching a new Media Gallery application, which centralizes screenshots, videos and other multimedia content in a dedicated space. A good way to manage your files while keeping your memories well organized.
If everything is not yet available immediately, these new features look quite promising for VR enthusiasts who will keep an eye on the updates.
