Software supplier Blue Yonder for supply chain management, said the hosted environment for managed services was disrupted Thursday due to a ransomware attack.
The Arizona-based company, which was acquired from Panasonic in 2021, works with some of the world’s leading grocers, retailers and logistics companies to help them manage their supply chains.
Blue Yonder is working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and has implemented defensive and forensic protocols to limit damage and help determine the extent of the impact. Blue Yonder officials do not have an estimated recovery time.
The company is actively monitoring the Blue Yonder Azure public cloud environment, but has not observed any suspicious activity.
Morrisons, a British supermarket chain, said the Blue Yonder incident affected its warehouse management system for fresh food and produce, a spokesperson said.
“We are currently operating satisfactorily with our backup systems and we are working very hard to provide service to our customers across the country,” the spokesperson said via email.
There is no known claim of responsibility for the attack and no details have been provided about what type of information was used during the incident.
Blue Yonder has informed relevant customers and, according to the spokesperson, provides regular updates on the investigation.
The incident comes just days before the Thanksgiving Day weekend, a major holiday in the US and a critical period for grocers and retailers.
Earlier this month the American activities of Ahold Delhaize was hit by a cyber attack, but it is not clear whether that incident involved ransomware.
