Clearly, the fact that Qualcomm has brought forward its schedule means that all OEM partners have also brought forward their release schedules. Usually, you had to wait until after CES to have all the new high-end and premium products in the world of smartphones. This is clearly no longer the case this year. Indeed, while some manufacturers wait until January to formalize their products, other manufacturers decide to announce their new products even before the end of year holidays.
After Asus or Oppo, it’s the turn of Realme to formalize its brand new GT 7 Pro while the GT6s aren’t even a year old yet. And obviously, this new GT7 Pro is accompanied by the brand new high-end SoC from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Yes, it’s November and we already have several products with the new SoC of Qualcomm. Next to, Realme has done things well and we find technical characteristics which make the GT 7 Pro super complete, at least, on paper. We spent about ten days with the new Realme smartphone and it’s time for the verdict.

Design, Ecran and Audio
For our test, we got the Realme GT 7 Pro in its Galaxy Gray version. The back is made of frosted glass with a very soft finish. Besides, it’s quite rare to point it out but the rendering of the back is really soft and it is very pleasant to the touch. Although it does not compete in the same arena as premium smartphones, the Realme GT 7 Pro remains a high-end smartphone. Also, the finish is very good and in addition, we find not only IP68 certification but also IP69 against water jets! On the back, we also find a square-shaped photo block with a two-level design. Inside, we obviously find the three cameras of the Realme GT 7 Pro.
On the front, we find a 6.78-inch flat screen with a punch at the top of the screen. If we notice the smartphone offers us curved edges, it is above all an aesthetic story. Moreover, if the chin is somewhat thicker than the other three screen edges, all are relatively thin. Under the screen there is an ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor, much more effective than simple optical sensors. The panel itself is very bright and we did not notice any particular problems in direct sunlight.
Finally, there are two stereo speakers. The sound does not saturate despite acceptable power in daily use. Obviously, this lacks bass and we do not forget that these remain smartphone speakers with the resulting uses and which are sufficient for the consumption of short or even longer content. Finally, we will note the support for Dolby Atmos. And if you want better, you will need headphones, headphones or an external speaker.
Android, Performance and Autonomy
On the Android side, no surprise in itself, we obviously find Android 15 with the Realme UI overlay. The user experience remains very close to stock Android, which does not displease us, with an overall fluid and pleasant experience. There are still some translation bugs but nothing too annoying. For those who are more discerning, Realme UI is a sort of clone of Color OS and that is why it is rather effective and appreciable. Obviously, we find AI because it’s 2024 and at Realme, while waiting to activate Google functions, we find similar functions like AI Screen Recognition, a sort of “Surround to Search” which scans the entire screen. The same goes for the photo functions which allow objects or people to be deleted via AI. We are in classic from classic.
In terms of performance, we won’t surprise you too much since the Realme GT 7 PPro undoubtedly has the best Android SoC to date, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. Freshly presented by Qualcomm last month, we must recognize that it is a monster of power. You only need to see the benchmark results to understand that Android smartphones no longer have anything to envy in terms of power of iPhones for example. Also, we find results from the various very high-end benchmarks. Overall, the benchmarks are obviously excellent and Asus smartphones often take first place. Whatever your uses, the Snapdragon will get through it without batting an eyelid. Obviously, all games run very well, even with a high refresh rate.
The only problem is that the Realme GT 7 Pro tends to heat up enormously so that the user experience is impaired. We noticed that this especially happened on demanding applications. We cannot recommend enough that future users should be careful depending on usage. In any case, apart from the warm-up, we also tried recent games like Dead Cells, Call of Duty Mobile, Diablo Immortals, or even Genshin Impact. There’s not much to say, it was just super smooth, even at 120Hz for compatible games.
The Realme GT 7 Pro finally offers a 6500mAh battery, which is huge compared to the competition. To put it simply, we last (without any worries at least 3 days depending on usage but in absolute terms, it’s a monster of endurance. And to top it all off, the Realme GT 7 Pro can recharge from 0 % to 100% in less than 40 minutes and perhaps that’s why we don’t necessarily have wireless charging.
Photo and Video
Even if it is a high-end smartphone, the Realme GT 7 Pro is not a smartphone specialized in photography. But that’s no reason not to be at least efficient. Also, the Realme GT 7 Pro arrives with a complete and versatile photo unit. Now, in order to reduce costs, the sensors are rather small, the telephoto camera has a focusing distance of 60cm, so it is basic in absolute terms. So clearly, the Realme GT 7 Pro is not a smartphone for macro lovers.
AND if not, how is it going with this photo block ? In ideal light conditions, the Realme GT 7 Pro does very well. It’s not the best on the market, let’s be honest, but for the vast majority of users, it will not disappoint! Ditto with the telephoto camera which comes out with honors. On the other hand, for ultra-wide-angle photos, everything lacks sharpness and this is even more obvious when the light conditions are not optimal. Fortunately, the Realme GT 7 Pro does better with the main camera and the telephoto camera where we just note a perfectible white balance.
Better than words, examples to really get an idea:
Finally, on the front, the Realme GT 7 Pro offers a 16 Megapixel sensor and there is not much to really say except that the quality was sufficient in itself and therefore there for selfies . It’s clearly not the most beautiful shots we could have but it’s more than enough for the majority.
And finally, in video, Realme is doing quite well with detailed videos but which lack a little sharpness when the light conditions become more difficult. We were quite impressed by the stabilization which works rather well, even if, once again, we will avoid walking with our smartphone.
