By 5pm nearly 25,000 reports had been logged by users.
Most users have reported issues with the platform’s app.
In a post updating users on the platform’s status, Reddit said the outage affected their desktop web, mobile web and native mobile apps.
Of the reported issues, 62 per cent are with the app, 30 per cent are with the website, and eight per cent are with server connection according to DownDetector.
As of 5pm a number of users were receiving the error message “there is no content to display” when they tried to load subreddits.
Others have reported that the home screen won’t load.
Overall, it seems to have left users unable to use the social media site, as they cannot access posts.
One user said that they were able to load posts, but interacting with them would cause an error to occur.
Those who are managing to view posts are still facing server error message pop-ups.
This server issue appears to have begun yesterday.
Reddit has been posting updates on the situation throughout the afternoon.
They began an investigation into the problems at around 4:30, and identified the cause of the issue within 15 minutes.
At 5.22pm they said that they had implemented a fix and would be monitoring the results.
