Finished in a striking Guardsman Blue and a Wimbledon White double-stripe running the length of the vehicle, the iconic CSX9000 Daytona Coupe was built as a continuation model of the legendary 1960s Shelby Daytona Coupe.
Only six Daytona Coupes were ever built, meaning they are among the rarest and most iconic race cars in US history.
But Shelby American has since revived the legendary model with the CSX9000 Continuation Series, and this particular example, chassis CSX9170, is an absolute showstopper.
Paying tribute to the legendary 1960s racer, it promises all the thrills of the original car, with modern-day performance and comfort.
The interior features black leather bucket seats with white stitching, embroidered “Shelby 9000 Edition” logos, a black Alcantara headliner, as well as a matching dashboard.
The cabin also features a 3-spoke Daytona Coupe steering wheel, a period-correct Stewart Warner 160-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges.
Safety and style are enhanced with the inclusion of a roll bar and Shelby-branded door sill guards.
The cabin reflects its racing heritage while also incorporating a few modern touches – including the black leather bucket seats.
Under the bonnet, it houses a Prestige Motorsports Ford 427 V8 engine, complete with Borla 8-stack fuel injection, silver ceramic headers, and an engine oil cooler.
Despite its low mileage, the car does show some minor imperfections which give it some character.
These include slight upholstery wear, paint chips, and fading around the headlights and bonnet.
There’s also some scratches underneath the vehicle.
Included with the sale are the original jack and tools, as well as eligibility for the Shelby American Automobile Club owners’ registry.
The Shelby Daytona Coupe has been a symbol of motorsport excellence since its first victory in 1965.
This continuation model, crafted using the original blueprints, features a slightly larger passenger compartment and modern conveniences.
To that end, it could be argued the vehicle is practical, too.
Elsewhere, gearheads will be buoyed by the apparent return of the legendary Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
A rumor circulating online has suggested the much-loved vehicle’s possible release – with many fans fearing it was gone for good.
The last iteration of the GT500, which boasted a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, capable of 760 horsepower, was discontinued after the 2022 model year.
However, it could be set for a heroic return as early as 2026 — according to the Mustang7G forum.
As reported by Edmunds, a leaked United Auto Workers (UAW) document has circulated on the online forum.
In the document, details relating to staffing and production increases are listed at Ford’s famed Dearborn Engine Plant, located in Dearborn, Michigan.
