Last month we advanced the payment schedule until the end of 2024 for users who are included in the Mexican Wellbeing Pension. It came with triple payment and the options were divided between IMSS and ISSSTE pensioners. Well, for next year there is good news coming through the government. The retirement age is modified in both cases.
The changes. The pension system, key to ensuring the well-being of older adults, is undergoing important changes that will influence citizens’ retirement planning. As? The government has established a new minimum retirement age requirement, applicable to those who meet the necessary conditions to access a pension through the IMSS (private sector) or the ISSSTE (public sector).
In this way, both social security institutions have established criteria for weeks of contributions as a requirement to access a pension. The big difference is that, starting in 2025, some older adults will be able to obtain their pension early thanks to a reform approved by the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, one that reduces the age to access a contributory pension, offering an important benefit for those seeking to retire under this scheme.
The benefits. In this way, the reform of articles 4 and 27 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States establishes new guidelines for access to pensions, highlighting several key benefits. Among them, and the star modification, the reduction of the minimum age to access this non-contributory pension, which will now be 65 years of age instead of the 68 that was established, expanding financial support to older adults in vulnerable situations. .

In addition, the progressivity of pensions is guaranteed, ensuring that the amount received will not decrease over time, and a comprehensive rehabilitation program is incorporated for those people with permanent disabilities, in this case, with special attention to those under 18. years.
