Apple hosted its highly anticipated yearly event, WWDC 2025, today, unveiling a wave of significant software updates as well as hardware glimpses. It is the company’s 36th annual Worldwide Developers Conference that came with several essential updates.
While iOS 26 stole much of the spotlight, Apple brought equally important and sweeping updates and introduced a dedicated gaming app for iPhone.
Gaming App for iPhone:
Apple also introduced a dedicated gaming app for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS as part of its expanded focus on gaming. This new app will serve as a central hub for discovering and accessing gaming content across all Apple devices. The app will include editorial coverage of upcoming titles from the App Store along with features from Apple Arcade, allowing users to get more immersive and organized gaming experience.
The app will come pre-installed with the upcoming OS updates later this year. Users will get access to features like achievements, leaderboards, recent player activity, and game related notifications. Additionally, for Mac users, the app will bring support for games installed from outside the App Store.
The launch of this app aligns with company’s broader gaming strategy that includes the acquisition of RAC7 Games, creators of Sneaky Sasquatch, and the arrival of console-quality titles like Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Resident Evil Village on the iPhone.
Instead of being just a simple leaderboard system, the new app functions more like a full-fledged gaming community where players can discover new games, connect with friends, and dive straight into matches. It seamlessly integrates with Apple Arcade while also letting users easily access every game they’ve ever downloaded from the App Store, all within one organized space.
