Satechi has announced a trio of new tech gadgets just in time for the Christmas gifting season. The tech and lifestyle brand has launched a new Mini NVMe SSD enclosure alongside two Mobile XR Hubs for portable storage and power when on the move.
The Satechi Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure is made for M.2230 NVMe solid-state drives, the smallest M.2 NVMe SSD which offers speeds up to 10Gbps and a maximum 2TB capacity. The new enclosure is ideal for gamers on the move or photographers and videographers working on location.
Meanwhile, Satechi has also announced two new hubs: the Mobile XR Hub with Audio and the Mobile XR Hub with microSD. The new mobile hubs keep devices like an iPhone, Switch or laptop powered up, so users can stay focused without worrying about draining the battery of their host device. Users can choose between a hub with 3.5mm audio support or a microSD port for offloading files and freeing up storage space on the host device.
The Satechi Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure is suitable for the smallest M.2230 SSD form factor. It uses Gen 2 USB-C technology which transfers data significantly faster than traditional SATA SSDs. Users can manage their storage needs using the enclosure’s swappable SSD design which can accept capacities up to 2TB.
The enclosure has a write lock switch to prevent accidental modification or erasure of any files, ensuring data integrity during transfers and offering protection against malware. The enclosure can also be used to capture Apple ProRes Log files directly on iPhone 15/16 Pro iPhones.
The new Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure is about the size of a matchbox and has a lightweight aluminum body, chamfered edges, scratch-resistant tempered glass plus a braided USB-C lanyard cable. The built-in cooling fan is quiet and eliminates the need for bulky passive heatsinks. The enclosure doesn’t require tools for installation or swapping SSDs.
The two new Mobile XR Hubs from Satechi enable XR users to power up and play with most XR glasses, including VITURE, Xreal and Rokid. The Mobile XR Hub with Audio delivers high-quality sound through a 3.5mm connector which also has built-in mic support, making it ideal for phone calls, recording voice memos or issuing voice commands through a connected headset. Volume controls make it easy to play, pause, adjust volume or skip and replay tracks.
The Mobile XR Hub with microSD provides instant storage so users can transfer photos and videos to a microSD card which then frees up space on their phone. Both hubs support 4K visuals on an external monitor and fast transfers, moving up to 100 videos in less than 25 seconds via USB-C. Users can connect the hubs to their phone, tablet or console, such as a PS5 or Nintendo Switch, for gaming, streaming and working anywhere.
Each Mobile XR Hub has a slim, pocket-sized design and weighs less than an AA battery. With their transparent design and durable build quality, the hubs look good and feel suitably robust.
Verdict: The Satechi Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure which is similar to the Sharge enclosure I reviewed earlier this year, is a great little storage tool. The build quality is excellent and the cooling fan is quiet. As a pocket storage solution, it’s so convenient. The two Satechi XR hubs are also well made and provide a neat pocket-sized solutions for adding audio of microSD support to a smartphone. All three products make ideal stocking stuffers for the gifting season.
Pricing & Availability: Satechi’s Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure, Mobile XR Hub with Audio, and Mobile XR Hub with microSD are currently available on Satechi.net for $59.99, $44.99 and $44.99, respectively.
