SKY Q’s remote hides a number of secret features to boost your viewing experience in front of the telly.
Much of them can be done not with the click of a button – but by using your voice.

Most people already know you can do things like change the channel or find a show using the Sky voice feature.
But there are a number of other super useful tricks you can do to make life a little bit easier.
Skip the ads faster
It’s annoying sitting through the ads with your finger held on forward.
And nine times out of ten you miss the right spot.
A speedier way to get to where you want is by using your voice.
Just press the mic button and say “Jump to” followed by the number of minutes you wish to skip.
If it’s ads from a recording, you’re probably looking at about three minutes so give that a shot.
Resume recordings
While it’s common knowledge that you can find shows with your voice, what about programmes you’ve recorded?
It turns out you can resume content you’ve started with your voice too.
Just say “continue watching” followed by the name of the show.
Go to specific channel sections
If you’re ever feeling picky but know the type of content you want to watch there is a trick to get you to the right channels.
For example, you may fancy some music but not sure whether you want MTV or NOW 80s.
Or maybe you’re unsure of the children’s channel you want.
You can say to the remote “go to” followed by the name of the section.
Subtitles
Subtitles have become increasingly popular among those who don’t even have a hearing impairment.
A poll by YouGov in 2023 found that six in ten people aged between 18 and 29 prefer to have subtitles on.
Rather than faffing around with buttons, you can say the Sky remote: “subtitles on”.
Search by actor or director
If you have a favourite star or a director whose work you admire, you can easily find more content by them.
Just say their name and all the available titles will appear instantly on screen.
