Snowflake and Microsoft have expanded their collaboration With an agreement that will make Snowflake Cortex AI integrates the Microsoft Azure OpenAI service in Azure Ai Foundry. In this way, the latest OpenAI models will be available for use in Azure within Snowflake, and optimized to reason through audio, video and text in real time. This agreement will give companies to create data agents promoted by OpenAI models within the AI Data Cloud of Snowflake.
When carrying Openai models to Cortex AI through an integration with Azure OpenAi, Snowflake offers users AI models within the same unified governance frame as their data. Customers will thus have protected connections for customers at any cloud provider.
Snowflake customers tell, accessing these models, with access to their advanced reasoning and instruction capabilities, which allows them to develop applications of scalable and data agents that offer information based on their business data.
OpenAi models are executed within the Snowflake’s AI Cloud Security Border, and compliance, security, privacy, discovery and business collaboration of Snowflake Horizon Catog, natively integrated into Cortex AI, also allow users sensitive is protected.
With Openai models in AI Data Cloud, Snowflake and Microsoft joint customers can combine structured and unstructured data to improve user experience. Of course, Openai models will be available at first only for certain regions of Microsoft Azure in the United States, although there are already plans for its global expansion.
On the other hand, thanks to this collaboration, Snowflake is working with Microsoft so that snowflake cortex agents are available for end users in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Teams. If everything goes as planned, they will be throughout the month of June. Cortex agents will allow Microsoft company customers to interact with their data, both structured and unstructured, in natural language, directly from Microsoft applications.
In addition, developers can also take advantage of Snowflake functions through Rest APIS to customize and develop safe natural language interfaces between Microsoft 365 applications and their data in Snowflake.
Apart from the OpenAI models, Snowflake offers several models of other companies, among which are Anthropic, Depseek, Metral or Mistral, in addition to the Language and Embedding models Source Source Arctiv by Snowflake.
According to Christian Kleinerman, Snowflake product vice presidentthe company has expanded its collaboration with Microsoft «To offer the best of OpenAi’s innovations directly to our clients, thus reinforcing our commitment to offer an easy to use, efficient and reliable to companies around the world. The capacity of our clients to use OpenAi models directly on the Snowflake’s safe platform is enormously powerful, since it unlocks cases of use of multimodal, agentic and conversational the AI that boost a great impact«.
By Microsoft, Asha Sharma, head of the product of Microsoft Ai Platformstressed that «Companies seek to take advantage of their own data to create a differentiation of AI that offers the most enriching experiences to the world, and the Snowflake association with Azure OpenAi Service through Azure AI Foundry will allow our joint clients to offer experiences of intuitive and reliable applications at a higher speed. Our shared approach, focused on data for AI, is what helps eliminate production barriers for companies of all sizes«.
