After discounting the price of its residential Starlink plan, SpaceX is doing the same for the Roam tier in Canada.
The deal could entice consumers curious about the satellite internet service, which excels at delivering high-speed broadband to rural and remote areas. SpaceX has updated Starlink.com to promote the discounted rate to Canadian users. The Roam 50GB plan has been reduced to CAD$39 per month, down from the usual $70.

Meanwhile, the Roam Unlimited plan has been changed to $CAD110 per month, down from $189. The catch is that the deal only applies to new customers, and lasts for just six months. “Discount will apply to one service line. Customers who change their plan, cancel their service, or are suspended will lose their promotional pricing,” SpaceX says.

A Facebook user also spotted SpaceX offering the Roam deal while discounting the standard Starlink dish to CAD$249. But as of Friday, the dish deal wasn’t available, and priced at the usual $499.
Unlike the residential Starlink plan, the Roam tier lets you use the Starlink satellite internet service in more than one location, including internationally and while on the go. The Roam tier can also be used with the portable Starlink Mini dish, which was released last year.
The deal also might mean SpaceX will promote a similar offer for the Roam tier in the US. In addition to Canada, the company has been offering the deal for subscribers in three European markets—France, Germany, and Spain—according to the Starlink website.

On the downside, it looks like SpaceX has ended its rare discount on the residential plan in both the US and Canada. Last month, the company began offering new customers a discounted rate for the residential and residential lite plans, bringing the cost down to $99 per month and $65 per month, respectively, for the first 12 months of service.
Although the deal is no longer listed on the official Starlink site, it’s possible SpaceX could revive it or push new discounts in its ongoing effort to attract new customers.
