Valve is ending out the month of July with a new Steam beta release that has a few Linux-specific fixes.
For Linux gamers with today’s Steam beta release there is a notable fix to address the Steam UI scale not updating to match system DPI changes under XWayland. Now when the system DPI changes in XWayland, it should be properly reflected with the Steam user interface.
Additionally, the Steam beta has a Linux fix for where Steam would freeze and fail to recover after a process crash.
Aside from the Linux fixes, the Steam beta release also introduces a customization tab for game properties. From the new customization tab is the ability to view/set custom artwork for the game as well as setting a custom sort title that will be displayed in place of the actual game title when sorting games within your Steam library.
There are also Steam Store menu fixes, a UI scale issue is fixed for Steam Big Picture Mode, game recording fixes, and a few other general fixes. Details for those interested in today’s Steam beta update via SteamCommunity.com.
