The US Sun understands he will link up with the team, and become their starting quarterback.
However, the Steelers are a wide receiver down after George Pickens surprise exit.
He went to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month in exchange for future NFL Draft picks.
Now, Mike Tomlin wants to bring in a replacement for him for the upcoming campaign.

He is interested in New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave.
According to reports, he is a name on a shortlist of targets.
Pittsburgh-based reporter Adam Crowley sent social media ablaze on Friday morning.
“Chris Olave,” he simply posted.
He followed that up with a message following a number of replies from fans.
“To be clear. I had someone who would be in the know text me ‘Chris Olave’,” he added.
The Steelers already have a number one wide receiver for the 2025 season.
They picked up DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks.
That was in exchange for a second round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
But question marks still remain on Rodgers going forward.

The 41-year-old is all set to make his debut for the Steelers against an old foe.
Tomlin’s team take on the New York Jets during Week 1 in early September.
And that was the franchise who axed the Hall of Fame-bound QB earlier this year.
