Telefónica and Siemens have signed a strategic agreement with the aim of promoting digital transformation and automation in the Spanish industrial sector. Both companies announced the alliance through a joint statement, highlighting their commitment to bringing advanced technologies to the productive field.
The collaboration will focus on the integration of advanced connectivity through IoT (Internet of Things) and 5G networks, as well as the adoption of digital solutions based on digital twins (virtual replicas to analyze and optimize their performance in real time) and artificial intelligence . These technologies seek to optimize operations and production processes in factories, promoting more efficient and sustainable models.
Telefónica will provide its network infrastructure, while Siemens will provide industrial technologies designed to maximize efficiency in new production paradigms, which increasingly depend on the collection, analysis and application of data. “Thanks to this agreement, Siemens and Telefónica will be able to integrate the most innovative technologies in the industrial field to support customers on their path to digital transformation,” the statement said.
The agreement also contemplates the training of specialized professionals from Telefónica Spain and Geproma Telefónica Tech group company, in the areas of industrial automation and digitalization developed by Siemens. It will include certifications and training in SCADA systems, based on Siemens WinCC OA technology, and the implementation of MES/MOM platforms through Opcenter. These solutions will allow a more fluid integration between industrial networks (OT) and business systems (IT), facilitating the efficient management of assets and production processes.
In addition, the alliance is expected to open the door to the incorporation of advanced artificial intelligence models and data analysis tools in OT environments, which will contribute to increasing the competitiveness and flexibility of industrial companies.
To support the deployment of these initiatives, Telefónica will make available its innovation and talent center in LaCabina, while Siemens will exhibit its solutions in its digital experience centers in Madrid and Barcelona and in its center of excellence for the naval sector (Cesena). in Ferrol.
Both companies will also work together to develop professional services that include best practices and technologies in industrial digitalization projects. Through this cooperation, Siemens and Telefónica seek to generate new use cases in Spain.
