Tesla said on Tuesday it had upgraded the long-range versions of its China-made Model 3 and Model Y touting major improvements in range and acceleration, raising the former’s price by RMB 10,000 to RMB 285,500 ($39,856) but maintaining the latter’s at RMB 313,500. The company said its Model 3 Long Range can now accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and travel 753 kilometers (468 miles) on a single charge, an improvement from the 4.4 seconds and 713 km it previously claimed. The long-range Model Y now also has a driving range of 750 km, an additional boost of roughly 30 km. The move comes days after Xiaomi launched its first electric sports utility vehicle the YU7 on June 26, saying it outperforms its US rival in multiple aspects at a more attractive price tag.
