I wrote an article talking about (in my opinion!) the 5 best batsuits from Batman: Arkham Knight. After I finished writing it, it got me thinking of another superhero videogame centered on someone who has decades of stories, tv shows, and movies to take suit inspiration from. I’m, of course, referring to Marvel’s Spider-Man. That game had a ton of alternate costumes, a lot of them amazing, and a lot of them not so much. But today, let’s only focus on the amazing ones. Here are the 5 best suits from Marvel’s Spider-Man.
P.S. I took all these screenshots from the same video. Check it out to see all of Spider-Man’s outfits.
The 5 Best Suits From Marvel’s Spider-Man
- Upgraded Suit
- Spider Armor – MK III Suit
- Spider Armor – MK IV Suit
- Vintage Comic Book Suit
- Classic Suit (Repaired)
1. Upgraded Suit
I love two things: simplicity and the color black. That’s exactly what you get from the Upgraded Suit. It’s simple-looking, by which I mean it doesn’t look very high-tech. That really dark black meshes well with the bright red to create a beautiful color palette. The cherry on top is the bright white eyes. The one “flaw” for me is the spider symbol on his chest.
If you read my batsuit article, you know that I’m a big symbol guy. The symbol on this suit leaves a lot to be desired. It’s so tiny, and to tell you the truth, I also don’t like the shape. Tiny legs plus a fat body make it look more like an ant than a spider. The only thing I really like about it is the golden outline; it makes it stand out more. Apart from that, though, it’s an incredible suit.
2. Spider Armor – MK III Suit
I know I said I love simple-looking suits, but this next pick will make me sound like a liar because my next favorite is the Spider Armor – MK III Suit. I’m a huge sucker for black and red; we’ve established this already. But what I particularly like about the MK III is that it looks plastic-y. I’m not sure if that’s what they were going for, but that’s the vibe that I get from it. That’s not meant to be an insult at all. I actually really like that it looks like that.
The reason for this is that it reminds me of an action figure come to life. The plastic, glossy type material, combined with the general design of this suit, makes it look like an action figure that would come with its own Spidey-Helicopter or something. The WWE 2k series does something similar, and I love it.
3. Spider Armor – MK IV Suit
I don’t know how many people will agree with me that the MK IV is simple-looking, but in my opinion, it is. It’s basically the classic suit but with a high-tech, sleek coating of paint. It’s very metallic-looking in the best way possible. What makes it even better is the tint of green in the eyes and in the spider symbol. It’s perfect for those who are into the high-tech skins and those who are into the toned-down, simple ones. It’s perfect for everybody, I guess, is the point I’m trying to make.
Unlike some other suits, I really don’t have any nitpicks for this one. There’s nothing wrong with it that bugs (ha) me. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s my favorite in the entire game, but it legitimately is one of the best suits from Marvel’s Spider-Man.
4. Vintage Comic Book Suit
I’ve read a ton of Spider-Man comics in my day, but the ones that have stuck in my mind the most are the ones from the 60s. I think that’s why I’m biased towards the Vintage Comic Book Suit. Even without all that background, however, I would still say that this is one of the best alternative skins in the game. Seeing a vintage, classic Spider-Man come to life, swinging around NYC, beating up goons, is just too good.
There are other animated skins in the game, and I enjoy them, but I vastly prefer the artstyle of this one. The one thing that I will say is that I wish the blue in the suit were just a tad bit lighter. That’s probably my only nitpick, and it’s a tiny one at that.
5. Classic Suit (Repaired)
This is the one that you start the game with, the Classic Suit. on, you unlock the Advanced Suit, which is sort of meant to be the default one. I have to say, though, I’ll pick the Classic over the Advanced any day of the week. This is just so perfect. The colors, the simplicity, even the symbol, there’s no flaw to any of it. I have to give it up for Insomniac Games for creating such a damn-good suit. It’s actually harder than people think. One wrong choice and the whole thing can be ruined.
I don’t know how many suits there are in this game, and I’m too lazy to count. However, out of all those suits, I feel very confident in saying that this is by far the best one in the whole game.
Conclusion
This list was pretty hard to make; there were just too many good choices to pick from. I didn’t even mention the Last Stand Suit or the Scarlet Spider one, not to mention the plenty of others. It just goes to show how much Insomniac Games knocked it out of the park. But, in my mind, these are the 5 best suits from Marvel’s Spider-Man.
