Embark Studios continues to power ARC Raiders with regular updates, and the next one promises to be particularly spectacular. Baptized Shrouded Skyshe will arrive February 24 and will introduce a new map condition, namely hurricanes. The extreme weather phenomenon could well change the way you play this extraction shooter, already renowned for its demands.
Until now, players had already had to deal with electromagnetic storms or cold waves, forcing them to adapt their strategy or seek shelter. But according to the developers, nothing comes close to what’s coming. Strong winds will sweep through areas like the Spaceport, reducing visibility, throwing debris, and directly altering gameplay mechanics.

What will change?
Concretely, moving during the storm will no longer be neutral. Running in the direction of the wind may offer a slight speed bonus, while progressing against it will slow the character down and deplete their stamina. Thrown items such as grenades, gadgets, and similar equipment will also be affected by weather conditions. This means that even the most basic actions will need to be rethought in the middle of a storm.
The danger will also be visual and environmental. Intense rain and dust clouds will severely limit visibility, increasing the risk of ambush. Debris carried by the wind could inflict damage or disrupt travel.
But as often in ARC Raiderswith risk comes reward. Embark Studios promises better loot for those who dare to venture out during the hurricane, including special caches and rare relics. An incentive to take risks which should attract the most experienced players… or the most reckless.
Other new features to come
L’update Shrouded Sky is not limited to this new weather. It will also introduce a new card system, new threats linked to Arc machines and a reset of ranks with the launch of a new expedition. This type of reset is rather classic in online games with seasonal progression.
A more discreet new feature, but eagerly awaited by the community, could also appear. This is about the beards in the character editor. Until now, all the survivors showed a surprisingly smooth face despite the post-apocalyptic universe. However, the promotional image in the video suggests a bearded character, which suggests the arrival of new customization options soon.
This update is part of an already busy roadmap. Another patch is planned in March with a new map condition, followed in April by an entirely new area to explore. At the same time, the studio continues its fight against cheating, a crucial issue for the survival of a competitive multiplayer game.
