Between our phones, tablets, laptops, PC monitors, TVs, smartwatches, AR/XR devices, car infotainment systems, and other smart home tech, we’re basically looking at displays everywhere, all the time. Like any tech, displays have steadily evolved – resolutions get bigger, refresh rates get faster, screens get brighter, and PPI get denser. And no company’s doing more right now to push the boundaries of display technology than TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (TCL CSOT).
TCL CSOT, a global leader in advanced display technologies and a subsidiary of TCL Technology (000100.SZ), showcases its latest innovations at the Global Display Tech-Ecosystem Conference (DTC). This yearly event brings together display industry experts, media, and ecosystem partners to discuss cutting-edge display technologies and future development trends.
At DTC 2025, we had the opportunity to speak with Ming-Jong Jou, Chief of the Technology Planning Center at TCL CSOT, about their foresight and leadership in next-generation, scenario-driven display technology, as well as the key innovations unveiled at the event. Here’s what you need to know.
World’s Highest-Res Single-Chip Full-Color Si-Micro LED Display (0.28″)

Of all the many display innovations TCL CSOT showed off at DTC 2025, one of the most exciting is the World’s Highest-Res Single-Chip Full-Color Si-Micro LED Display (0.28″). This ultra-compact 0.28-inch display delivers an extremely high resolution of 1280×720 and an exceptional pixel density of 5131 PPI. It’s designed for ultra-high-definition AR/VR applications, providing a highly detailed, lifelike visual experience that virtually eliminates pixelation.
This breakthrough is critical for immersive experiences, where visible pixels can break the illusion of reality.Ming-Jong Jou
This display’s self-emissive nature delivers high brightness, high contrast, and a wide color gamut, so you’ll enjoy a “retina-grade” viewing experience with AR glasses and ultra-slim VR devices. If you’ve ever used AR glasses, you’ll know how important it is for these displays to be as sharp and immersive as possible.
With its miniaturized form factor, ultra-high resolution, and low power consumption, TCL CSOT sets the standard for next-generation lightweight, high-performance micro-display products.
World’s Highest-PPI Real RGB G-OLED Display (2.56″)

Another innovative display tech solution that’s ideal for XR glasses, TCL CSOT has launched the World’s Highest-PPI Real RGB G-OLED Display (2.56″) at DTC 2025. Utilizing advanced pixel architecture, this display boasts an ultra-high 1512 PPI pixel density and a Real RGB 2560×2740 resolution for exceptionally refined image quality.
“It sets a new benchmark for OLED performance and opens up possibilities for high-end consumer and industrial applications thanks to its ultra-dense circuit design,” says Jou.
The display also supports a 110% wide color gamut and a 120Hz high refresh rate. Combined with OLED’s inherent advantages of microsecond-level response time, high contrast, and low power consumption, it offers a smooth, lifelike visual experience and sets the new standard for XR devices.
World’s Highest Image Quality MLED Display (163”)
Paul Jones / Android Authority
Next up is one of the highest-quality TV screens we’ve seen in a while: TCL CSOT’s latest MLED display. It features proprietary ultra-low-reflection encapsulation materials to achieve an incredible contrast ratio of 37,500:1.
You’ll get exceptionally detailed image rendering on this giant 163-inch screen, with pixel-level hybrid PWM+PAM driving architecture and an industry-leading 24-bit color depth supporting 16.77 million grayscale levels. Combined with a 144 Hz high refresh rate, the display ensures smooth, lag-free performance.
With real-time image analysis, the panel features dynamic brightness adjustments to enhance motion clarity and deliver refined grayscale transitions. It’s not just about the fantastic image quality either. The industry-leading large-panel design significantly reduces bezel gaps and makes installation easier.
World’s First Partitioned Frequency Division OLED Tablet Display (13.2″)

This display innovation will be a game-changer for tablets and laptops. TCL CSOT has developed the world’s first medium-sized narrow-bezel OLED display featuring regional and multi-frequency refresh capabilities.
With uniform 1.7mm bezels on all four sides, the display measures 13.2 inches, has a 3:2 aspect ratio, and comes with a 3.1K resolution (3120×2080), along with an impressive 96% screen-to-body ratio.
But what’s even more amazing is its adaptive refresh rate capabilities in different areas of the screen. Built on an advanced 8T LTPO backplane architecture, the display supports adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz across various usage scenarios.
Whether you’re browsing the web, reading text, or watching movies, the screen dynamically adjusts its refresh rate based on the activity in different areas of the same screen. This dynamic adjustment also helps reduce logic power consumption, offering both high performance and energy efficiency.
It cuts power consumption by up to 25% during common tasks like reading, browsing, or watching videos. It’s a breakthrough in balancing performance and efficiency.Jou
World’s First Real Stripe RGB OLED MB Display (5.65″)

And finally, TCL CSOT introduced the world’s first smartphone display featuring Real Stripe RGB OLED pixel architecture. With continuous advancements in high-precision OLED printing technology, this has resulted in a breakthrough 390 PPI pixel density. And with a visually equivalent diamond-like pixel arrangement reaching 490 PPI, it surpasses current mainstream flagship devices.
This ensures flawless rendering of fine text and delivers a more refined visual experience. This display also showcases TCL CSOT’s capability to manufacture high-end inkjet-printed OLED (IJP OLED) products across small, medium, and large formats, signaling a shift from technological leadership to ecosystem leadership.
APEX and the future of display technologies
Paul Jones / Android Authority
Jou says that TCL CSOT is entering a transformative era where display innovation must serve both people and the planet. And that’s the mission of APEX, the company’s advanced technology brand, to deliver exceptional screens while advancing sustainability.
APEX is built on four core values. The A stands for “Amazing Display Experience,” delivering stunning visuals. The P is “Protective of Eye Health,” to ensure reliable vision care, while the E is “Eco-friendly to build and use,” using sustainable, low-carbon solutions. And finally, X is for “Unlimited Imaginative Potential,” to inspire creativity and shape future possibilities. Guided by this philosophy, TCL CSOT is pioneering a sustainable display ecosystem that redefines immersive experiences and demonstrates technological leadership.
Success does not rely on mere bets but on continuous innovation aligned with future market trends and customer needs, solidifying our technical foundation to lead the industry forward.Jou
To achieve this, TCL CSOT is building a comprehensive technology matrix spanning LCD, OLED, and MLED. This enables diverse applications across TVs, IT products, commercial displays, automotive interfaces, specialty screens, and emerging scenarios. By integrating these technologies, TCL CSOT is positioned to deliver industry-leading solutions that drive innovation across multiple sectors.
“Looking ahead, we at TCL CSOT will continue to champion industry standards that go beyond basic specs – driving progress that truly meets user expectations and shapes a smarter, more sustainable display future,” Jou concludes.
