The idea behind the Zip came from an ill-prepared camping experience, where finicky networks and complicated installations frustrated its creators. Result: a projector that fits in a pocket (3.3 X 3 x 1 inch folded, for 280 grams) but which is easy to use.
An additional micro-projector
The Zip unfolds in three parts. At the top, we find the thinnest HD optical engine in the world, capable of projecting an image in 720p (not Full HD, but for its size, it’s already not bad). A hinge connects this element to a midsection that houses two stereo speakers of 1 watt each. Finally, the non-slip base, which contains a 5,000 mAh battery, ensures the stability of the whole thing.

This all-in-one design helps avoid installation hassles: the projector automatically adjusts focus and alignment using advanced sensing technologies. Small bonus, an integrated gyroscope allows you to easily switch to a vertical orientation, ideal for TikTok or Instagram videos.
In terms of performance, the Zip does not claim to compete with living room projectors. With a brightness of 100 ANSI lumens and a projected image ranging from 20 to 80 inches, it is mainly designed for portable or auxiliary uses. The battery offers up to 1h30 of autonomy, and a 24-watt USB-C fast charger allows you to get going again quickly.
In addition to its basic functions, the Zip is compatible with AirLink, a wireless screen sharing technology that works with iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. For devices requiring a wired connection, Aurzen offers an optional HDMI dongle, as well as a magnetic mount for added flexibility.
Aurzen chose a double launch for its Zip: an official presentation at CES 2025 and a financing campaign on Kickstarter. Early backers can reserve the projector for 249%, or 38% off the expected in-store Price. If all goes as planned, deliveries should begin in March.
With its clever concept and well-thought-out features, the Aurzen Zip could appeal to fans of gadgets that are always on the move. It remains to be seen whether the production will live up to its promises – as always with crowdfunded projects, you have to be a little careful.
